Contributing days, coverage and source readings

At least 70% usable interval coverage within 06:00–12:00 is required for a historical day to contribute. This demo convention is not a clinical sufficiency rule. Each bin requires at least 3 eligible distinct days.

Days in the 10:00 bin (26)

Per-bin historical counts and calculation notes

Dates are the preceding 28 calendar days, 2026-08-11 through 2026-09-07; 2026-09-08 is never in its own baseline. Window changes do not fill missing days. No workday or event metadata is inferred.

Within each 15-minute clock-time bin, a day contributes its mean once. Median, Q25 and Q75 use linear interpolation at (number of days − 1) × quantile. The band is the middle 50% of those daily values; its width is not uncertainty in the median. Lines break at missing or insufficient bins, without interpolation across gaps.

Coverage requires adjacent nonmissing quarter-hour endpoints; day eligibility is recalculated for the selected period. Period difference uses current minus baseline median at each interval’s start, only if both endpoints exist in both series. Boundaries contribute intervals only to the period they span. A 24:00 row is the synthetic closing endpoint, not another baseline day.

WHAT ONE DAY CAN TELL US

Notice the shape.
Leave room for the unknown.

Identify peaks, dips, rises, falls, and when they happened. Compare the same clock hours across days. Keep missingness visible.

Historical spread describes differences between generated days. It does not establish a cause, predict a future day, or indicate a medical target.

Definitions and calculation notes

The selected synthetic day contains 97 quarter-hour timestamps from 00:00 through 24:00 UTC, with five deliberately missing readings. It does not use uploaded or personal data. Rates use adjacent readings only, divided by 15 minutes. “Steady” means an absolute rate below 0.25 mg/dL/min, a UI convention rather than a clinical rule. Fastest rise/fall are extrema of this adjacent-interval rate. Highest/lowest are observed values, not interpolated extrema.

Coverage counts a 15-minute interval only when both endpoints are present. Five missing readings leave six unusable intervals (90 minutes). Time in each display band assigns each covered interval to its starting reading; values exactly at the bounds count within range. The average is weighted by these covered intervals. Display bands are adjustable examples, not personal treatment targets. No interpolation across missing data is used. Periods are half-open for extrema and include their endpoint for interval calculations. All timestamps use UTC in this example; a real import would need its time zone confirmed.

Experimental curve-defined segmentation is an alternative to clock-time periods. Every usable adjacent interval is classified as rising at or above the selected positive slope threshold, falling at or below its negative, or steady strictly between. Default: 0.25 mg/dL/min; this is a demo convention, not a medical classification. Consecutive same-class intervals form a run. No minimum-duration filter, smoothing, or merging is applied: a single 15-minute interval can be its own segment. This preserves brief changes but can fragment noisy data. Missing endpoints or intervals longer than 15 minutes force a gap boundary, never a bridge. Segment change is last minus first glucose; average rate is change divided by observed minutes. Each valid interval belongs to exactly one segment; gap time is excluded and totals reconcile to the day. A selected segment’s historical comparison uses the same clock window, not curve-shape matching or clustering. No meals, sleep, insulin actions, or causes are inferred.

The typical-day comparison uses 28 reproducible generated prior days, never the selected day. Choose the preceding 7, 14, or 28 calendar dates. Each historical day is summarized once per 15-minute clock-time bin before taking the median and 25th/75th percentiles across distinct days. The shaded band is the historical middle 50%, not a confidence interval or treatment range. See the comparison’s calculation notes for coverage, exclusions, and difference denominators. No private uploads are used.

Model formula, assumptions and limits

G(next) = G(previous) + food + meal bolus + background production + background insulin + stabilizing balance. Each contribution is integrated over (previous time, next time], a five-minute interval. Plotted component rates divide those interval contributions by five. The initial value is 155 schematic mg/dL. There is no independent glucose shape, random noise, clamping, or forced peak/slope ranking.

Food uses a unit-area triangular profile lasting 180 minutes, with peak rate 45 minutes after the event; its total positive effect is 100. Meal bolus uses a 240-minute profile, peak rate at 75 minutes, total negative effect −100. These are illustrative profile choices, not validated absorption or insulin pharmacology. The exact area of each profile inside an interval sets its contribution, including overlaps.

Background production adds 0.5 schematic mg/dL/min and background insulin subtracts 0.5. A separate stabilizing balance adds (155 − previous glucose) × 0.003 × 5 per interval. This artificial balance makes the example return toward its reference; it is not a validated bodily mechanism. Changing event timing keeps these parameters identical, although the balance contribution responds to the resulting glucose.

All scenarios begin at minute zero without earlier event tails. Event times range from 0 to 180 minutes; the display ends at minute 420, covering the latest bolus profile. “Now” only selects an inspection point. No insulin doses, carbohydrate amounts, exercise, stress, sensor delay, individual physiology or uncertainty calibration are modeled. No scenario is presented as clinically better or safer.

Imported CSV readings are never regenerated. Explore Similar Days to compare completed shapes; similarity alone is not evidence of a shared cause.
